Thank you for your interest in hosting a student ambassador or an adult from one of our sister cities. Hosting will be an enriching experience for everyone in your family. Previous student ambassadors have told us that the home stay and the family interactions were activities they truly cherished.


DATES

A student ambassador or an adult chaperone will be your house guest, You can check students activity link on our calendar page for dates.


AIRPORT PICKUP

Host families begin their cultural experience when they pick up their students at their arriving flights at the airport. LSCA board members will be there as well, so they can pick up your student if it is impossible for you to do so.


LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE

At the pre-departure host family meeting, you will be provided with a list of helpful phrases and ideas to help with the cultural differences. Most students will know some English, but translation books or internet applications are also helpful.


ROOM AND BOARD

Although students do not need a private bedroom, we do require that they have their own bed. Host families are expected to provide breakfast daily, sack lunches on most days, and dinners, except at the LSCA evening functions. Host families will be given a stipend to help defray the expenses of hosting.


TRANSPORTATION

Host families are expected to deliver and pick up students from the daily activities. If you are unable to do so, you can make arrangements with other host families to pick up your student. A master list of host families will be provided.


DAILY ACTIVITIES

Students and adult chaperones will have activities daily from approximately 9AM to 5PM. Student ambassadors from Longmont are expected to be with the foreign student ambassadors during their daily activities. You are welcome to join any of our activities.


ASSIGNMENT OF STUDENTS

We will provide information about the person you are hosting by the middle of July.


PRE-DEPARTURE HOST FAMILY MEETING

An evening meeting will be scheduled in July to give you additional information, to provide networking opportunities, and to include you in the student activities as your schedule permits.


OTHER EXPENSES

Admission charges for your visitor are covered by LSCA for our scheduled activities. Your visitor should have their own money for personal expenses and souvenirs. For phone calls, you can expect them to offer money, use their credit card, or make a collect call.
