Longmont is located at 40°10'18"N 105°6'33"W. Elevation is 4,984 feet (approx. 1519 meters ) above sea level.
Longmont is 37 miles north of Denver, Colorado and just 10 miles east of the Rocky Mountains. Long ago, this area was inhabited by the Ute Indians. In 1871, the town of Longmont was founded as a planned agricultural community by settlers from Chicago and New York. Germans from Russia and many people from Japan and Mexico also settled here because of the rich soil.
