Chaperones can expect reimbursement for travel expenses.
Chaperones can expect reimbursement for travel expenses upon completion of the three portions of their commitment: Pre-trip activities, summer exchange and post-trip activities. Details are spelled out in the Chaperone agreement. The exchange program takes place in late July through early August, and chaperones are expected to participate in the hosting phase as well as the travel phase. Reimbursement does not cover personal spending money and gifts.
Orientation sessions and fund raising activities.
Orientation sessions and fund raising activities will take place during the spring and early summer. Chaperones are expected to plan and carry out orientation sessions, and to participate in fund raisers. LSCA members and parents of Student Ambassadors are involved in the planning of fund raisers.
During the school year following the exchange, Student Ambassadors are expected to make presentations to classrooms and community organizations. Chaperones will work with the Student Ambassadors to create and coordinate these presentations. Although the Longmont Sister Cities Association members will assist with the student exchange program, the position of Chaperone is very time consuming as it is also rewarding. The home stay experience in our Sister Cities is a lifelong memory.
